Introduction to media AS coursework
I have been asked to produce a front cover of a Music Magazine cover, contests page and a double page spread on the artist of my choice. It will aid the marketing of a fresh new band from my area. I order for me to create this, I will be using the technology available to me such as camera, Photoshop, internet.
My first task will be to produce a front page of a college magazine and a mock-up of a contents page. In addition I will need to fully research music magazines, identifying the conventions and target audiences. I will analyse Metal/Rock magazines such as Kerrang, Metal Hammer, NME and Q. Using these I will identify the ways that these magazines are presented and published, also I will analyse their content.
When I explore the content and conventions of these magazines I will take into account on analysing.
Layout (Where the items are placed and the purpose of why it was placed in that certain place)
Font (Style, Size)
Colour (The use of colour and why this colour was used and what it represents)
Pictures(Why they chose a certain picture and how it was created and the use for it)
Overall purpose(Why the magazine was created, who was it aimed for and what makes is unique and why the audience should choose that magazine)
For examining the magazines in this way, I will have a better understanding on creating a magazine and will learn techniques in which making my magazine will benefit from.
